Wk1 - CryEngine3 introduction videos

Vid - Getting started and Folder Structure
Sandbox folder structure
  1. bin 32 and bin 64 folders are where the game files and the editor are.
  2. code folder = for code changes.
  3. editor folder = where the files for editor are stored.
  4. game folder = it includes pak. files which is where the whole game is.
  5. tools folder = is where plugins are managed.

Tips and tricks
  1. The view port is viewed in perspective. By right clicking on 'perspective', other views can be used e.g. wireframe.
  2. lock selection = lock the objects selected which allows you to only work with the selected objects.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, it shows the speed of the camera. The higher the number chosen, the faster the speed.
  4. The button next to 'speed' = leaving that unselected allows you to go through the terrain.
  5. Ctrl G = game mode.
  6. AI Physics button = like game mode except the character isn't there and you can still edit.
  7. 'Go to Position' button = allows you to position the camera
  8. ... button = allows you to change some variables of certain things e.g. sound
  9. Rollup bar = creating, modifying or bringing things into the editor is done under the rollup bar
  10. If the rollup car dissappears, you can get it back by going into 'view'.

Customise you sandbox editior setup

  1. when you've got many windows opened, you can drag one window to the other to minimise the windows. 
  2. Attach panels to the side of your editor = drag and drop the window to one of the 4 icons.  
  3. Tools > preferences = can change console background, can enable backup etc. 
  4. Creating shortcuts = Tools > customise keyboard > keyboard > select the command, insert a key and then click 'assign'
  5. Create command button = Tools > configure user commands > create new macros (create a name) > Scroll and find the command > click apply and then ok.

3 different ways to move around level
  1. keyboard shortcuts: W = forward, S = backwards, A = left, D = right
  2. hold right mouse button = allows you to looks around
  3. middle or scroll button = pan around
  4. press right and middle mouse button at the same time and move the mouse  = allows you to move around
  5. shift = move faster
  6. Alt + scroll button = rotate camera
